Blue and White Chinoiserie Outdoor Table Finds for Summer | Melamine Plates | Cocktail Napkins

The following is a collaboration with Ballard Designs. My opinion is my own! Affiliate links included.

I have fond memories of eating outside as a kid. Usually in the summer, we would eat outside every Saturday or Sunday. My dad would man the grill; my mom would make the sides, and my job was usually to set the table.

Now that my kids are getting old enough to help, I'm making a point to eat outside more as a family.

And we love it.

We don't have to argue with the kids to turn the TV off during dinner when we eat outside. To them, it's almost adventurous to be eating out there. We get to connect as a family and talk about our day. Actually, one of our nightly rituals is to go around the table and say what our favorite part of our day was.

Eating outside doesn't need to be elaborate. (Most of the time, we're using store bought sides and burgers from the grill). But when Ballard reached out to me to do an outdoor project, I knew I wanted something beautiful that felt Grandmillennial but still kid friendly.

I had been eyeing these chinoiserie melamine plates for awhile. There's a white dinner plate with a beautiful bamboo edge, and there's a salad plate with the classic chinoiserie motif. They're kid friendly but still elegant enough to use for guests.

I like to pair them with these polka dot, scalloped-edge cocktail napkins. They're a touch of modern that keeps the table feeling youthful.

I also gave our outdoor area a refresh with their monogrammed outdoor pillows. The Sunbrella fabric is so durable. Our last patio set was made with Sunbrella, and it stood the test of time. You can even opt for a monogram (either initial or 3 letter) for just $6.50 more! As a former embroidery shop owner, that price is outstanding.

I also have their pillow inserts in these pillows, which I would also recommend if you need some.

I hope you'll try eating outside with your friends or family more this summer. Those little touches will make it a highlight of your day.

Xoxo

Jill
